Baled up some grass, otherwise known as "idiot cubes". However, they are pretty easy to work with in the horse barn.

Soybeans are getting more yellow, but there are a lot of green spots in these fields. We'll have to wait for the green stuff to ripen before we can start, so we're probably 3+ weeks out on the soybeans yet. Corn is progressing nicely - some ears are already tipped down.

We're maybe three weeks away from harvest. The combines are ready.

I saw a field of soybeans today where the leaves were starting to turn yellow. Harvest is approaching.

A bit more rain last night and the air temperature has been beautiful. Got to see a nice sunset tonight too.

A bit more rain this morning and then more rain this evening. Temperatures have been around 80-85 degrees for the last couple days, which feels awesome.

2.7 inches of rain. However, like the other rain events this season, it came with some wind. We lost one grain bin and the door on one machine shed.

I'm not certain of what happened here, but I suspect it has something to do with spraying Roundup on soybeans that don't have the Roundup tolerance trait. However, I don't understand the ~1% survival rate. Maybe the dosage was low enough that there was only a 99% kill rate and the surviving plants were merely stunted for a while, or maybe there were seeds mixed in that had full Roundup tolerance. Maybe the green plants had not yet germinated at the time of the chemical application. Amusingly, we may look at this field after harvest and realize that it didn't yield much less than the fields that are completely green today.

The view at the top of the grain leg is beautiful. Also, corn doesn't grow well in sand in a dry year. Local weather station was saying today that July was the 4th driest on record here. We officially received 0.52" of rain in July. Today was yet another 95 degree day.
