Finally some sun and wind today, so we switched the 2588 over to soybeans and started making dust. The wind was strong enough that visibility was an issue in the combines. At times, I couldn't see ground at all, nor could I see the ends of the reel. Also, the new 35' draper head is a pleasure to run and can cover ground quickly. After you've been pushing it for a couple hours, it starts to feel manageable. However, driving down the road with a 35' header on is a unique experience. Forget about meeting traffic, the question is if you can fit between the road signs.

The weather has been damp and cool, so while the corn machine keeps moving, the soybean machine has been parked in the shed. I did some stalk chopping this morning and went to a land auction this afternoon.

Too cold and damp to cut any soybeans today, but there is plenty of corn to pick.

First day on soybeans with the 7120. The 2588 is still on corn.

Tried the soybeans today, but they aren't ready yet.

Picked some corn with moisture below 21% today. One of the neighbors cut some soybeans and there was plenty of dust behind the combine.

Today is the first day of harvest for us. Moisture is running 22-23%. Air temperature is 70 degrees, but will be in the 60s later this week. The cobs seem to be drying (shrinking) faster than normal because we're already seeing some header loss.

These soybeans are probably about 1 week away from being ready to cut. Light rain is in the forecast for tomorrow, but we'll get started on the corn once it dries out again.

This is the barn that was painted last month.

We are a few weeks away from harvest. Yesterday was a rainy day, and I even saw some puddles. Grass is starting to green up from that rain last week. Soybeans are showing more yellow.
