The corn looks fantastic and seems to be growing several inches per day. We are getting a bit on the dry side, some rain would be nice. Based on the forecast, it looks like that will happen. The sprayer is making the first post-emergence pass on the corn acres to knock back the weeds. Once the corn gets to canopy (when there are enough leaves to shade the ground), the weed pressure will disappear.

Replanted a few acres of soybeans today on some low ground that turned in to a pond for a few days after a heavy rain.

Today marks the end of soybean planting. Planted in the morning until it rained, but since it didn't rain much, so we were able to do the last field in the late afternoon.

Ok, that's it, it's officially freaking hot outside. Since we have sufficient ground moisture, the corn is loving it.

Corn stalks are really hard on tires. Also, having a water jug on the planter is great for washing your hands after filling.

The trash was quite sticky this morning, so the tillage had to wait until noon. The planter was working in a field that was no-till, so it was going early. This is the last of the spring tillage.

Some rain came in this afternoon, so we had to shut the planter down early.

Vice President Biden was in town today. We are pretty close to the airport, and I happened to be outside when his plane came in to land.

Did some tillage late this afternoon, and we are planning to start planting soybeans again tomorrow morning.

I just dumped nearly 3 inches of water out of my rain gauge, which is the accumulated total for the past 3 days. The soil is completely saturated and the tile are running full. The forecast is looking better, and it will be nice to see 70+ degrees again.

We could have planted yesterday afternoon and this morning, but the forecast is more cold and rain. It did rain again this afternoon, although not a whole lot. We delivered some grain this morning. Some places in the lower fields got a bit of frost the other night. You can see the damaged leaves in these pictures. Fortunately the growing point is still below ground, so this corn should recover just fine.

Rain today. Near freezing temperatures for the next few nights means that it probably won't dry up fast.
