Talked to Alex tonight, and their combines were washed and loaded. They averaged 1,000 acres a day while at Chappell (once the 6th combine finally arrived).

They are moving to Hemingford, NE (which is by Alliance). They will be be running 6 combines, 2 grain carts, and 4 trucks to start with. (When they were at Chappell, they had to drop down to 4 combines because the trucks couldn't keep up!) I asked him how much they had to cut there and he said a bunch! Sounds like this may be their biggest stop yet! Alex has decided not to head back to Texas, he is going North.

All their attitudes were still high spirited...so must be having a lot of fun this year!

Wow. That was quick.

Alex called this morning, and they had just gotten the combines loaded and chained down. They were just pulling out at 9:00 this morning. They were en-route to Chappell, Nebraska from Leoti, Kansas. They have 3,000 acres there to cut. 500 acres have already been cut. They will be staying in Julesburg, Colorado. They will be running 6 combines and 1 grain cart. They have switched grain carts and they will be using a 8330 with a 840 Kinze. Yesterday was the first full day of cutting they have done in quite a while due to the rain showers. The wheat they cut at Leoti made over 50 bu/ac and the weight was between 54-58.

The remainder of the crew is in Kingsville, Texas. They are getting ready to harvest milo at the King Ranch. Alex made a comment that he may go to Texas to help with milo harvest when they finish up at Chappell. He has never cut milo, and would like to do so. Alex said he hadn't updated his blog since nothing had changed.

Oooh. 6 combines and just one 800 bushel grain cart. That can be done, but only if everyone really works together.
