8:00 AM
We left home with sunny skies and a full tank of gas.
11:26 AM
We are now I-90 in MN at mile marker 108. We have seen more Buick LeSabres so far today than I thought was possible. I-90 seems to have less traffic than I expected, which is fine. The crops looked good up till Waterloo, but they could use some rain. From there to Charles City the crops were a little behind in places. There were some corn fields that were showing stress. However, there were some soybean fields that just plain look like shit. Short, flooded out, and major weed pressure. Over here in SW MN the crops look good again. Most of the corn is at tassel and the soybeans look very even and are close to closing up the rows.
4:00 PM
We arrived out at the fields and found the combines. It was about 540 miles here. Seems like the Buicks all stopped after lunch and now the Corvettes are out.
11:55 PM
The high temp was 111 degrees this afternoon. It was like a blast furnace. Tonight it cooled off to about 70 though, so it is nice now. We finished up with winter wheat and tested a bit of the spring wheat. Looks like that will run tomorrow.
