Lance here - I spoke with Alex for a while late this afternoon. Shortly after I spoke with him last time, they moved the combines over to Burkburnett, TX to cut with another one of their crews. The wheat there was dry, so it was better to move than do nothing. They cut there for a couple days, but got rained out as well. After that, they moved North to where they are now, in Jet, OK.

The wheat in this area looks good from a distance - there is a lot of straw, but the yields are lower than it looks. The field Alex was in earlier today was running about 35 bu/ac, but the one they are on now is only about 20 bu/ac. They have two combines and just one truck. The line is getting a little longer at the elevator with each load, and that causes a lot of wait time for the combines in the field once they get full.

Ironically enough, Johnson Harvesting is right across the road. Alex was telling me that he keeps eyeing the big blue grain cart that is sitting there empty, just across the road.

If you have ever been to rural OK before, then you know what the red dirt roads are like. Alex said that pretty much all the trucks have a thick coating of the red dust now. You can see the trucks coming from a mile away by the red cloud they leave behind them.
