Today we loaded the combines and brought them back to town so we will be ready to leave for South Dakota early in the morning.

The plan for today is to road trip to Sterling. As for life on the road, we are pretty much awake till midnight every night. On moving days, we get up somewhere around 6 AM, but normally it's a 7 AM wake-up if we are cutting. On days such as today where we aren't cutting, everyone sleeps in. Breakfast is a couple pop-tarts while lunch and supper are the awesome meals that Deb makes. The Johnson's are great to be working with and are well known in the industry. The ground here in Colorado is nice to cut since it is mostly flat with no terraces to cut around. The soil is somewhat of a grey color and there are a fair share of rocks in some places. The wheat has all been standing nice and has been good cutting with the exception of a variety known as tam. It had a habit of falling apart and plugging up the throat.

We had a big day yesterday and finished up cutting today. We spent several hours this afternoon cleaning out the combines.

Today we took everything out to the farm and unloaded it. We sampled one field and found it to be acceptable so we cut about 50 acres. While it was 75 degrees today, there is a chance of rain in the forecast for tonight.

We drove another 250 miles from Oakley to Haxtun. The elevation is about 4000 feet and there were some nice hills on the way here. Its about 60 degrees and overcast here today. Some of the wheat fields are still pretty green, while others may be ready in a couple days.
