We spent the morning washing the combines and then Tyler loaded them on the trailers. Everything got chained down and we were ready to move shortly after lunch. We moved everything except the trailer houses about 100 miles up to Oakley and then drove back to Garden City for the night.

We finished up cutting here today in a field that was a bit too wet after that week of rain. My machine now has 2314 acres on it. Most of the machinery has been blown off with air and some of it is loaded already.

Wind, dust, rain, and mud. No dirt in the headers though. That alone made it a great day.

Finally a full day without rain. We spent the morning waxing a semi. After lunch we took the combines out for some fun in the mud. I switched jobs today, I ran an earth mover for a change. The ground is still pretty moist and soft. It was all too common for a combine tire to sink a bit and then one side of the header dips into the ground and plows a small trench. One of the guys from ProHarvest rode with me for a bit and helped clean dirt off the auger table a couple times. I plugged up the header so many times today that it just felt like the day would never end. Crazy moment of the day - 4 combines and a cart working on a 10 acre triangle.

For once we had sun today, but hardly any wind. Brent swapped in an experimental rotor belt on the combine I've been running. We replaced a few mud flaps on some trucks and cleaned the combine cabs. If it doesn't rain tonight, we should be able to get back to cutting tomorrow afternoon.

We all slept in again today. One of the T8s still had wheat so I took that into the elevator to unload it. And now, back to the movies.

Well it rained again last night. This sitting around stuff is getting a little old. Yesterday we went into town for shopping. This afternoon we went out to the farm to put an air hose back onto truck 7. The combines look clean after all the rain.

It rained today again. Watched more movies and played some Frisbee. It looks like we have at least 2 more days of bliss before we can get back to cutting again.

It was a cloudy overcast day. Eric took a loaded truck to the elevator and the other 3 of us brought the combines back to the yard to service them. We are set to begin cutting whenever it dries up enough. Rain is forecast for tonight again.

So it rained this morning some more. We watched the movie Black Dog this morning, went shopping this afternoon, and updated this website from the office of a local ISP. After supper, we went to the movie theater and watched Shrek 2. A big storm went through this evening and now there are tree branches down around the crew trailer. It was fortunate we were out because there was a large branch that landed right where we park one of the pickup trucks. The rain continues tonight. Brent went back to Kingman today and I heard that they are still cutting tonight.

It rained a little last night and we got to sleep in. After lunch we serviced the combines and found the wheat to be dry enough to cut. Case IH Pro Harvest support was out fixing my machine so I didn't get started till about 5. I now have a functional air ride seat, yield monitor, and have the sensor to fix the coolant gauge. It started raining about 10:00 tonight again.

We have been cutting for 3 solid days here in Garden City with 4 machines, one of which is owned and operated by the farmer here. I think there are about 3 more days left here, but much of the wheat is still a little green. As for the ground, the dirt is the right color, unlike the red dirt in OK. I have only seen a couple rocks here. From a distance, the terrain appears to be flat, but there are some terraces in a few of the fields we have cut.

It was slightly over 200 miles here and for a change of pace, I drove service truck 1 pulling a hopper trailer. Dodge City was a little interesting with that rig. Everything got unloaded out at the farm and we should be cutting tomorrow.
