Example GGA Sentence: $GPGGA,153759.00,4158.8435658,N,09147.4425030,W,4,16,0.7,257.310,M,-32.00,M,01,0602*6A

In the above example, note the highlighted "4". The number in that field indicates the type of position data that is being reported. The standard list of values is:
0 = Invalid
1 = Autonomous
2 = DGPS
3 = PPS
4 = RTK
5 = RTK Float
6 = Estimated
7 = Manually entered position
8 = Simulation

If you're using a NovAtel receiver, there is one more value:
9 = WAAS

Many displays don't know what a value of "9" represents, so it may be useful to configure your NovAtel receiver to report a "2" when running on WAAS instead of the factory default of "9". To do this, send the following command to your NovAtel receiver:
ggaquality 1 waas 2

More information about the "GPGGAQUALITY" command can be found on page 126 of the firmware reference guide or in this support article.
